The Batterjee group contribution to the commercial markets of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) dates back to the origins of the nation. Sheik. Ibrahim Hassan Batterjee started his business in 1908 and was an active businessman and entrepreneur based in Jeddah, the Red Sea coastal city. He travelled throughout the Middle East. These days, the merchants of Jeddah were known to be hardworking, honest and supportive to their society. Sheikh Ibrahim Batterjee was one of these people carrying these main qualities which have been transferred to his descendants after him, and which lead to the trust in his name and company.
This trust in his name and company, made a brand of the BATTERJEE name, which has been highly recognized since then. The main virtues that this brand reflects have led to a sustainable growth of the family business. As the founder of one of the original families of Jeddah, he and his son Sh. Abdul Rauof Batterjee founded the Batterjee Pharmaceutical Company in 1944. This company still exists today under the name of Batterjee & Bros. Co.
Abdul Rauof established the pharmaceutical business during a business trip to Europe in 1948, with multinational companies as an exclusive agent/distributor in the K.S.A. Abdul Rauof prospered with the fruits of education and experience of travel abroad to establish community pharmacies. With success in the K.S.A more pharmacies were built to serve the sons and daughters of the blessed country.
